Ca’ di Ponti Catarratto
A ripe, versatile and approachable dry white from western Sicily.
Attractive aromatics of floral peach, tropical fruit and a hint of fennel. The rounded and gently honeyed flavours on the palate are balanced by lemony acidity.
Adria Vini is a joint British and Italian winemaking venture. Their aim is to produce authentic, well-priced still and sparkling wines from local grape varieties. All aspects of production, from grape selection through to vinification, maturation, blending and bottling are meticulously overseen by the winemaking team of Claudio Manera and Lella Burdese - assisted by Master of Wine, Tony Brown. They source from a range of private growers and cooperatives, with whom they have long term relationships, principally in Veneto, Friuli, Lombardy, Sicily, Puglia, Abruzzo and Sardinia.
This wine is a blend of fruit sourced from the Marsala area on the west coast of Sicily, and from high altitude hillside vineyards near Alcamo.
Gentle pressing, cool, slow fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts. The wine was bottled young after a short period of ageing on fine lees in stainless steel.
Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany seafood, grilled fish, salads and cold white meats
