Home Made Pizza

Pizza making can be a fun activity to do with the kids. We love making the dough in the morning and leaving it to prove during the day and then making the pizza for tea. In our house we all like different toppings, so I make a small selection of ingredients and the kids get to work on creating their own pizza.

Pizza Base

Serves 4

600g Strong flour
90g Olive Oil
150g Water
7g instant Yeast

200g tomato paste
100g bacon bits
100g cheddar cheese
100g Mushrooms
100g Tomatoes
20g Olives
20g Basil

  1. Place all the ingredients for the pizza base into a bowl and mix into a dough
  2. Leave to prove in a bowl covered in a tea towel, the dough needs to double in size
  3. Knock the dough back to its original size and leave to prove again
  4. Once the dough is ready set the oven to the highest temperature
  5. Shape the dough into pizza bases
  6. Fry the bacon and pop to one side to add to your pizza topping
  7. Cover the pizza bases with the tomato paste and all the toppings of your choice, finishing with the cheese
  8. Place in the hot oven to cook - this can take less that 5 minutes depending on your oven so keep an eye on it. When the cheese has melted and the pizza edges are browning then  you are ready.
